The NFTM Team

Tina Bailey - Event Organiser

Born in Germany in 1960 and bilingual, my passion and love for Fox Terriers can be traced back to my working days in the natural stone industry. I found a little wire fox terrier girl, narrowly missed by traffic, on my way into the office in my hometown of Chesterfield. So starting with gorgeous Lola, then our wonderful Archie, followed by Miss Daisy Sunshine and now our fantastic Young Sherlock, I can’t quite imagine a life without a Wire Fox Terrier in it.

I see the need for FTR UK and admire Lee England’s tireless dedication to both Wires and Smooth . Hopefully I am of some help via the FTR Transport Network, the FTR Newsletter and various fundraisers.

Luckily my husband of 44 years is as passionate about Fox Terriers. We will do everything in our power to make the National Fox Terrier meets special and memorable for all who attend whilst raising much needed funds for Fox Terrier’s in need.

Julie Liston - Event Site Manager / Fundraiser

Born in Derbyshire in 1970, I was raised with many dogs mostly terriers.

I have worked in Children’s services in various roles and have been a full-time foster parent for the last 10+ years.

I have a keen interest in Fox Terriers and had my first in 2016 from the Brocolitia kennel at Matfen, Newcastle. From then on, my interest has become my life. I breed wires under the Brynparc affix and love showing them. I enjoy helping out with the National Fox Terrier Meet, Fox Terrier Rescue and taking part in many Fox Terrier meets. I am also a active Committee Member for the Wire Fox Terrier Association.

Wires get under your skin, they become your life and an obsession. I have met many people through the breed and hope to meet many more.

The NFTM is a big event in my calendar, one day a year where we get to see such a wonderful sight, and all have a fantastic time with lots of laughs and the dogs having fun as well. I look forward to seeing you there.

Jane Mason - First Aid Lead

I was born in Singapore, brought up in England and we always had dogs at home.   My first encounter with a Wire Fox Terrier was when my father placed a wriggling puppy in my lap, I was 8 years old.  Pogo was my companion for the next 14 years.

After leaving home, qualifying as a nurse, I went on holiday to Canada, met and married my husband.  At this time my parents had a West Highland Terrier and my husband fell in love with him and they gave him one the following year.  This led to us having 3 over the next 20 years followed by a Dandie Dinmont.  I then persuaded my husband that we should have a Wire Fox Terrier but due to his ill health we decided that an older dog would suit us better than a puppy, so we approached Fox Terrier Rescue UK and we were fortunate to adopt Bob who we had for 2 years.  By this time, I had retired and following the loss of Bob I was lucky to find Ruby and rescue her and she soon became Jeff’s carer staying beside him as his health deteriorated.  Jazzman was a Foxy originally from Spain, residing with Terrieres sans Frontieres, and looking for a home and he joined Ruby and I in 2017.   Sadly, Ruby died in 2022 following a brave battle with Degenerative Myelopathy; Jazzman and I have adapted to life without her. I support many of the Fox Terrier Rescue Groups with their fundraising and am part of the FTR Transport Group in the UK.

Following my retirement from Nursing, I still wanted to help friends and neighbours and so I kept my First Aid qualification up to date.  I have used it for the last 6 years to lead a great team of First Aiders to support the National Fox Terrier Meet.

Fiona Wilson - Canine First Aid Lead

I am a retired headteacher and set up my professional dogwalking business in 2014. I am a qualified Canine First Aider. I am involved in fund raising for Fox Terrier Rescue and am part of the Transport Network that ensures Fox Terriers can get to Rescue quickly and safely.

My love of Fox Terriers began as a youngster reading the Tin Tin stories; although I didn’t know then that Snowy was a specific breed, I loved his quirky & determined spirit.  Many years later, I found a “scruffy mutt” in a rescue centre and brought him home. On Sidney’s first visit to the vet, I was advised to read up quickly about Wire Fox Terriers! Sidney was a delightful boy, a challenge as all WFTs can be but a loyal and loving companion. When he died I vowed I would not get another FT but…

Little Lady Jessie came from Fox Terrier Rescue. She had had a rotten start in life but over the next 10 years she became my sidekick and soulmate, who helped to set up and, in her eyes, run the dogwalking business. Before she crossed the Rainbow Bridge she achieved the accolade of Oldest Dog at the 2022 NFTM.

In Dec 2020 along came Mad Miss Maud, followed in Dec 2022 by Syr Percival, a whirlwind of WFT puppy exuberance, naughtiness and delight! Together we are now navigating life without Jessie and making sure that we do all we can to ensure other Fox Terriers, less fortunate than Maud & Percy, can have the opportunities that Fox Terrier Rescue gave Lady Jessie.
